Goal: fit in with papers in our field, tell a cohesive story

Figures and tables are programmatically created, self contained (LONG CAPTIONS)

use “we”

leave out “most” “many” “very large” etc not quantifiable

leave out irrelevant work, leave out pieces from our journey

~~Abstract: Problem/RQ (background + gap) → actions (somewhat detailed contribution) → impact (non-technical! one sentence each)~~

Intro: knowledge → gap → our approach

do summarize field and results in the first paragraph! tell them what you will show them

literature review, data description (*including what our methods are generally useful for not just what we used)

Methods: proof, but details in the appendix, its still story

Results: findings - Make it clear in your text when the values and trends in a figure are particularly relevant to the exploration.

Discussion: interpretations, limitations, compare to other research

Conclusion: applications, future work
